Predoctoral positions are available in the lab of Katja Sträßer at the
Gene Center of the LMU, Munich, Germany in the field of
Coupling Single Steps in Gene Expression

Our laboratory studies the interconnection between different steps in gene expression using mainly S. cerevisiae as model system. Recently, we showed that the conserved transcription factor Ctk1 has a second function in translation (Genes & Development 21:1409-1421). The aim of the first predoc project is to elucidate the role of Ctk1 in translation as well as to study its role in connecting transcription to translation. The second project will elucidate the function of phosphorylation sites on ribosomal proteins we have recently identified. In addition to interesting research projects we offer a multitude of techniques, a stimulating environment, and state-of-the-art facilities.
